PURPOSE OF WHY YOU ARE A COACH
My first exercise mentor was a college classmate. Only a few years older than I, he was already the S&C coach for several of Northeastern University's varsity teams. He explained that some of these students would not be able to afford college if it was not for their athletic scholarships, so preventing injury and teaching them to move faster was helping them get an education that would in turn prepare them for life after graduation. That was the first time I thought of myself as being capable of having a lasting influence on others through movement and sport, and I wanted to be able to share my knowledge and skills with others, too. As a coach and a young believer in a quickly expanding field of work, I have found wisdom in 1 Timothy 4:12. To be a coach is to spur others on toward excellence through my own passion for exercise so that they can walk out of a grueling training session with a smile on their face and pursue the same kind of excellence in the other areas of their lives. My words should direct and encourage, my actions should reflect integrity, and my attitude should be full of compassion because that's what Jesus did for me. I coach because God gave me the desire and prepared me to do so, and I don't want to waste what He's given me.
Make sure to welcome Danae to Godspeed when you see her around! We're very excited to have her join our family!
